Sara Hamidi
Sara Hamidi is one of the well-known Iranian singers. She started to learn traditional Persian repertoire at 19 years old under the supervision of Maedeh Tabatabaei. According to her professors and other experts, such as Mohammadreza Shajarian, her unique voice allows her to work across the Persian and Western classical repertoires.
Given the restrictions faced by female singers in Iran, and given her enthusiasm for Opera, Sara left Iran for France in 2012. Since that time, she has appeared in more than 60 Iranian and 20 Lyrical concerts and festivals in Europe, North Africa and Canada. She has also created joint musical projects with famous Iranian musicians such as Hooman Khalatbari, Majid Derakhshani, Keivan Saket, Majid Khalaj and Ali-Akbar Ghorbani.
Sara is motivated to continue to learn, teach and perform as she continues to discover new domains at the intersections of Eastern and Western musical styles, all the while advancing her goal of demonstrating the value of Iranian women singers internationally.
Sara is deeply engaged in supporting her fellow Iranian singers and musicians. Her collaboration with the Mah Banoo Ensemble, under the supervision of Majid Derakhshani, and her participation in the online concert Music of Hope, organized by the Iranian-American Women Foundation (IAWF), are the examples of this engagement.
