Are You Picking a Fight?: Interpersonal Communication and Conflict Management
One of the challenges about working with people is, well, working with people. We all think differently, interpret behaviour differently and create energy around ourselves which does not always match our intentions. This workshop improves skills and gives participants tools for effective communication by using tools from the world of theatre and storytelling. The method itself is enjoyable, lighthearted, creates a sense of togetherness and reveals new sides of the participants. Every assignment will include volunteers from the audience who will carry out exercises of various improvisations and simulations, following which we will hold inclusive discussions also suited for those who are not comfortable getting on the stage. The tools we take from each exercise and discussion enable the participants a look anew on their day-to-day communication and give a deeper comprehension of the role played by communication in our interactions with our surroundings – colleagues, managers and clients.
The workshop will deal with the analysis of text and subtext, listening as a motivator of effective action, the choice of dramatic action etc. We will learn to identify conflicts around us and improve our ability to control and manage them.
