Bringing a story to life: Celebrating Andrew Fuchs and his memoir

June 24, 2026

On June 8 in Montreal, the Azrieli Foundation’s Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program gathered to celebrate the launch of Andrew Fuchs’s memoir, The Wind Carries Me/Le Vent me porte.

Joined by the Montreal Holocaust Museum and the Cummings Centre, our staff welcomed Andrew’s family, friends and community to celebrate this milestone. Seeing so many people come to support Andrew reflects the deep connections he has built over the years and the lasting impact he has on those around him.

A beloved member of Montreal’s Jewish community, Andrew has long encouraged volunteerism, civic engagement and connection. Through his example, we are reminded that community is something we build together.

The evening featured a conversation between Andrew and Jody Spiegel, director of the Holocaust Survivor Memoirs Program, along with reflections from editors Catherine Aubé and Emily Standfield about working with Andrew to bring his story to life. The evening concluded with a special performance by the Cummings Choir, joined by Andrew himself.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Andrew and this remarkable achievement.
