Azrieli Fellows Workshops 2024-2025

Back to all workshops
  • Mindfulness for Academica

Synopsis

Academic work involves coping with a complex of emotional and intellectual challenges. Practicing mindfulness on a regular basis train the brain to develop mental and emotional capabilities that open up possibilities of dealing with difficult emotions in a beneficial and liberating way, that allows the realization of hidden human potential. Mindfulness is a scientifically proven practical way to reduce anxieties, expand the boundaries of what’s possible, strengthen self-confidence, enable cognitive flexibility, mental clarity, enhance creativity, and more. In the workshop, we will learn gradually and precisely how to practice mindfulness, how to encounter sensorial, emotional, and cerebral difficulties that hinder one’s aspirations and/or values, and we will understand the logic of the method.

Outcomes

  1. Integrate formal and informal mindfulness practice in daily routine.
  2. Experience some sort of beneficial effect of mindfulness practice.
  3. Understand the logic of the effect of mindfulness practice.
  4. Know the various aspects (sensorial, emotional and cerebral) of
    personal internal automatic patterns.

About the Instructor

Yossi teaches mindfulness in academic colleges and to medical staff in hospitals, as well as in schools and to groups and individuals that are experiencing various physical and/or emotional challenges. He himself has been practicing mindfulness meditation since 1998. His PhD thesis in anthropology analyzed the diverse forms the path of the Buddha took in Israeli culture. Also, Yossi holds Bsc in science and an MA in history and philosophy, and he was a research adviser at the Muda Institute for Mindfulness, Science, and Society in Reichman university. Based on his unique academic path, Yossi combines an anthropological view of cultural and social differences with the meditative view of the individual and develops a pedagogical approach that reaches out to the students, whoever they are. Also, Yossi is a family mediator both in divorce cases as well as multiple other familial conflicts.
