Liviya Mendelsohn

Launching the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence

Caregiving, whether it is done by a family member or paid professional, is a vital link in the lives of many neurodivergent individuals. Qualified caregivers are the invisible backbone of the Canadian health, social service and community care system.

Until now, there was no initiative, program or entity in Canada that addressed the needs of the entire field of caregiving. In response to that gap, the Azrieli Foundation has created the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence, a national resource dedicated to supporting best practices in caregiving.

On September 20, Liviya Mendelsohn became the inaugural Executive Director of CCCE.  Liv was most recently the Director of the Wagner Green Centre for Accessibility and Inclusion at the Miles Nadal JCC. Prior to that, she was the Artistic Director of the ReelAbilities Film Festival in Toronto. She also worked at Ryerson University as a Disabilities Counsellor and a Personal Counsellor. Welcome, Liv!

Helping Adults with Developmental Disabilities
Every individual deserves a life of dignity There is growing awareness of the challenges that children with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, such as an intellectual disability, autism or Down syndrome, face. But something is missing: these children with neurodevelopmental disabilities grow up, and these disabilities don’t disappear. Adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities are often ignored by society, and […]

Opening doors to a better world
From our most vulnerable to our most exceptional, we all have a contribution to make. For potential to flourish, however, it needs opportunity, guidance, an empathetic hand and a courageous heart. The Azrieli Foundation is Canada’s largest non-corporate foundation. We connect and nurture potential, wherever it exists, with the resources and the wisdom it needs […]
