On 22 September, the Azrieli Fellows Program held an orientation for the 2024-2025 cohort of the Graduate Studies track. The orientation took place at the Council for a Beautiful Israel in Tel Aviv.
The event began with opening greetings from Dr. Julie Mattos-Hall, Fellowship Manager; Dr. Aviad Stollman,Global Director; Ms. Rochelle Avitan, Program Director, as well as from Prof. Hermona Soreq, Senior Academic Advisor. Their warm and inspiring words celebrated the Fellows’ achievement in being selected and welcomed them to the program.
The new Fellows each selected a card with a picture of shoes and shared a few words about themselves using the picture as a starting point. The activity sparked fun and thoughtful conversations, with many choosing sneakers – a symbol of practicality and hard work – but the variety of footwear reflected the unique perspectives and inspiration each Fellow brings to the program.
After a group photo captured by resident photographer Shauli Lendner, the Fellows were given a rundown of all the fellowship components before enjoying a delicious lunch. The meal was an opportunity to mingle, share stories, and learn more about each other’s research.
The day was a meaningful start to the Fellows’ journey, setting the tone for a year of growth, collaboration, and discovery. Congratulations and welcome to all the new Azrieli Graduate Studies Fellows!
