Azrieli Writing Retreat by the Sea of Galilee

Twice a year, the Azrieli Fellows Program hosts an exclusive writing retreat, giving fellows a rare opportunity to focus on their work in a distraction-free environment. There are a limited number of spots available, and the retreats are highly sought after, as they provide dedicated time for deep thinking and writing.

The retreat brought together forty fellows and alumni for three days and two nights at a hotel by the Sea of Galilee. The lake’s calm waters stretched to the horizon and a soft haze settled over the landscape. It was the perfect, peaceful, and inspiring setting for intense writing sessions.

The retreat opened with a structured activity in which fellows introduced themselves, shared their goals, and reflected on their strengths as writers and researchers. Each participant was then assigned a desk and monitor. Over the next three days, they dedicated long hours to writing, completing papers, working on their theses, preparing presentations, and submitting to journals.

The retreat also encouraged connection and community. The first evening featured a session led by the steering committee, guiding participants through meaningful conversations. Fellows also took breaks to explore the surrounding area.

By the end of the retreat, participants reported significant accomplishments. Just as importantly, they left with stronger connections, reinforcing the supportive network at the heart of the Azrieli Fellows Program.
