Les r\u00e9sultats ont \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9s dans le prestigieux journal\u00a0<em>Nature<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Dans une \u00e9tude men\u00e9e par l\u2019\u00e9tudiant dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 Ido Sagi, le P<sup>r<\/sup> Nissim Benvenisty, directeur du Centre Azrieli \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 h\u00e9bra\u00efque de J\u00e9rusalem, et le P<sup>r<\/sup> Dieter Egli, de l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Columbia et de la New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF), sont parvenus \u00e0 isoler des cellules embryonnaires humaines avec une seule s\u00e9rie de chromosomes, en d\u00e9clenchant des ovules humains afin de les diviser en cellules embryonnaires sans recourir \u00e0 la fertilisation. Le P<sup>r<\/sup> Benvenisty pr\u00e9cise : \u00ab Cette recherche r\u00e9v\u00e8le l\u2019existence d\u2019un nouveau type de cellules souches humaines qui auront une incidence consid\u00e9rable sur la recherche g\u00e9n\u00e9tique humaine et m\u00e9dicale.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab L\u2019un des grands avantages \u00e0 utiliser des cellules haplo\u00efdes, c\u2019est qu\u2019il est bien plus facile d\u2019en modifier les g\u00e8nes \u00bb, explique Ido Sagi, le doctorant qui a men\u00e9 la recherche au Centre Azrieli. Pour les cellules diplo\u00efdes, il est difficile de d\u00e9celer les effets biologiques de la mutation d\u2019un seul ensemble de chromosomes, car l\u2019autre ensemble est normal et fait office de \u00ab\u00a0sauvegarde\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Financ\u00e9e par la\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nyscf.org\/\">New York Stem Cell Foundation<\/a>, le New York State Stem Cell Science Program et la Fondation Azrieli, cette \u00e9tude souligne l\u2019importance du m\u00e9c\u00e9nat priv\u00e9 dans les progr\u00e8s de la recherche scientifique de pointe.<\/p>\n<p>En 2015, la Fondation Azrieli a annonc\u00e9 le versement d\u2019un don de 6 millions de dollars \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 h\u00e9bra\u00efque, afin de cr\u00e9er le Centre Azrieli pour la recherche sur les cellules souches et la recherche g\u00e9n\u00e9tique et lui apporter le soutien op\u00e9rationnel n\u00e9cessaire.
