Beyond the Text: Design and the Right Way to Work in MS Word
Text is one of the most important tools used by academics, whether when writing articles, research proposals, lessons, CVs etc. Most of us use MS Word when creating these documents. However, as creators of visual texts which are meant to be read, most academics do not consider the design aspect of their documents, and are unfamiliar with most of the technical capabilities of the word processor they use. The workshop will present the principles of design used in creating a text, the correct ways to use MS Word, and will give tips and recommendations for the design and layout of a CV. The workshop is aimed at academics and will introduce the principles used in the creation of a visual text which is easy and pleasant to read, familiarize participants with tools and the correct ways to work with MS Word, and improve the writing of a CV.
Participants who complete this workshop successfully will be familiar with advanced tools for working with and designing documents in Word, will understand the design and technical logic of the software and learn to implement principles of design when composing a personal document of their choice.
