New International Postdoctoral Fellowships

AZRIELI FELLOWS PROGRAM NEW POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

- Azrieli Fellows Program calls on the best and brightest Canadian citizens or those who have completed a doctorate at a Canadian university to undertake postdoctoral research in Israel-
(TORONTO, ONT. November 5, 2009) - The Azrieli Foundation, a philanthropic organization founded by Canadian architect, real estate developer and philanthropist David J. Azrieli to promote education, research, the arts, and commemoration of the Holocaust, has issued a call for applications for the 2010-2011 Azrieli Fellows Program for postdoctoral scholars. The Azrieli Fellows Program welcomes the best and brightest postdoctoral scholars from Canada who wish to undertake research in Israel. The fellowships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic merit, exceptional personal achievements and leadership abilities, without regard to race, religion, gender, ethnicity or age. Scholars may undertake research in any field of study.
The Azrieli Fellows Program was established in 2007 to support the research and scholarship that will help create a cadre of leading professionals and academics who will increase the pool of technological and scholarly human resources in Israel. Since that time, the program has supported 32 outstanding Israeli graduate students with the most generous grant of its kind in Israel.
The Azrieli Foundation is now introducing a new facet to the Fellows Program by opening its doors to scholars who are Canadian citizens, or who have completed a doctorate at a Canadian university, and inviting them to undertake postdoctoral research in Israel. Winners of the generous fellowships will be funded for up to two years.
By supporting leading academics and professionals from around the world who wish to undertake research in Israel, the Azrieli Foundation hopes to strengthen the links between Israel and the rest of the world and to raise Israel's academic profile internationally. The Azrieli Foundation’s commitment to the Fellows Program represents an annual investment of approximately $1 million into Israeli higher education.
